The Ceres HighYield™ Kit at Bruce Randolph High School is an educational tool for students wanting to learn about natural science, food production, and sustainability. This school greenhouse is more than just a space for growing plants, it’s a space where students can gain real life experiences while learning about farming and agriculture, and provide food for their community.

The school is located in a food desert which means that there isn’t convenient access to affordable and nutritional food options like fresh produce. The food grown and harvested on site, by students, is donated to food bank partnerships all across Denver, including a local pay-what-you-can farmer’s market. The students are planting everything from peppers, cilantro, jalapeños, to tomatoes and learning how to take care of plants in the meantime. This hands-on experience is valuable because it provides students with a better understanding of where their food comes from.
